Membership Responsibilities.
Our Melville City Toy Library is completely run by its members. By enrolling, our members are signing up to help run the Melville City Toy Library. This involves a certain time committment which is mandatory.
Members are required to attend one rostered duty per term attend one rostered stocktake session per year and attend the Annual General Meeting.
Members who do not complete their rostered duties as descibed above may be fined or have their membership cancelled.

Borrowing
Toys cannot be reserved.
General members may borrow up to 5 items a session (only one of which may be a gold star toy).
Supervisors may borrow up to 7 items a session (only one of which may be a gold star toy).

Toys may be borrowed for ONE MONTH at a time
Fines are levied for toys returned late
These are payable to the supervisor on the return of the toys. If fines of over $10 are incurred, membership will be reviewed.
As the late return of toys at a stocktake can cause considerable inconvenience, there will be a $5 late fee imposed in addition to any other outstanding fees.

Care and hygiene
A certain amount of wear and tear is expected, however please take care with the toys (and the packaging) and treat them as your own.
Please ensure plastic containers are not used as seats or for standing on by children, for safety and cost reasons.
In the interests of children’s health please clean and dry toys before returning them. Bath toys must be scrubbed and air-dried, and costumes washed and ironed. Outdoor toys must be free from sand and water.

Damaged or lost pieces
Where toys are lost or broken, in whole or part, the member will be asked to contribute to the replacement of the toy.
If a toy is returned with a missing piece, the member must re-borrow the toy for a further 2 weeks (during which the majority of missing pieces are found) and may borrow 4 other items during this time. If the piece is not found at the end of this time, a minimum fine of $5 will be levied.

Repairs / Repackaging
If a toy needs either repair or repackaging, please bring this to the attention of the supervisor on duty or the relevant committee member.

Party Toy Hire for additional $10
If people are interested in borrowing additional toys for a party, they can be booked a fortnight prior through the supervisor. The toys must be collected and returned the following session.

- 5 additional toys (incl 2 gold stars/up to 5 dress-ups)
- 12 kids chairs and 2 tables
- bubble machine
- small parachute
- Rollercoaster
The Committee
All committee positions are declared vacant at the AGM. It is a requirement of the Library’s constitution that the Library have a full committee.

Committee members;
- are not required to pay membership fees;
- will be given a key to the Toy Library and the code to disarm the alarm;
- can come to the Toy Library at any time they wish to return / borrow toys or to carry out committee member functions.
- will be rostered on as a supervisor approximately 4 times a year and 1 or 2 times during Stock take (usually August).
- use a different password to other supervisors to access the Toy Library database, as committee members can access functions that ordinary supervisors cannot.
- Supervisors and committee members can borrow 7 toys each.
